Licences that are not available for application, but may be available through a competitive, invitation, sale or direct award process. This includes tenures such as: Forest Licence, Tree Farm Licence, Woodlot Licence, Community Forest Agreement, First Nations Woodland Licence and Timber Sale Licence.

Community Forest Agreement

An agreement for an area based forest tenure which is competitively or direct awarded. The agreement permits small scale forest management and may include right to harvest, manage and charge fees for forest products.

Fibre Supply Licence to Cut

An agreement which allows for the use of timber in waste piles for specified purposes over a given area, not just at a single site.

First Nations Woodland Licence

An agreement for an area based forest tenure which is direct awarded to a First Nation. The agreement provides near exclusive rights to the timber in the specified area.

Forest Licence

An agreement for a volume-based forest tenure over a large area which is available through a tender, competitive or direct award process.

Forestry Licence to Cut

An agreement which is either direct or competitively awarded (typically for timber that is damaged) for an amount not exceeding 5000m3.

Timber Licence

A Timber Licence is an area-based tenure which is no longer issued. Agreement provides the holder with exclusive rights to trees. Once the timber is harvested, the rights to new growth revert to the Crown.

A competitive bid process that provides an agreement for harvest and sale rights of treed Crown land.

Tree Farm Licence

An agreement for a large area-based forest tenure, which is available through an invitation process where applicants are invited to submit proposals for a tenure. Alternatively, a Tree Farm Licence may be purchased from a licence holder. It grants virtually exclusive rights to harvest timber and manage forests in a specified area greater than 500 hectares.
